As the heavens continued to pour on the already stodgy Hardy Farm quagmire, only one solitary shriek of joy could be heard from the Krombacher beer shed, as our cuddly curator once again headed for more pre-season bog snorkelling training manoeuvres. The now weekly semi-naked pitch inspection (the test to see if his large fork remains vertical or falls down) once again raised more questions than answers as the regional BS champ again discarded his overalls with glee and leapt into the boggy furrows of the waterlogged pitch 4. His discarded undies, tossed onto the growing pile of bonfire material behind the shed, will surely go up with some venom in under a months time..
Many kids and managers were left frustrated again by the weather, but for those who did escape the deluge..
In the U9s Powerleague Cup, the Hawks won both of their games and now have to wait and see if they have qualified for next week’s quarter-finals.

Hawks dominated with Luca B a spectator for most of the match in goal as Luca G and Joe kept the Vipers at bay.
Lucien (2) and Sam put Hawks 3-0 up before a wicked deflection gave Vipers hope. Noah led the line up front and Hawks were soaring high when Ollie buried a shot into the corner. Then Bertie C hammered one home sparking wild celebrations. Lucien completed his trick before Mars Bar Man of the Match Bertie C added another to make it 7-1.

Inferno’s keeper somehow kept the score goalless as Hawks piled on the pressure with Mars Bar Man of the Match Ben at the heart of some flowing moves. Eventually, Inferno cracked. Luca B and Sam combined nicely, Lucien tucked it home. 1-0. Lucien struck again and Sam’s long-range effort made it 3-0.
But Inferno were not extinguished and pulled it back to 3-2 with a controversial goal that Angus appeared to have kept out. With time running out, Ollie powered through and teed up Sam who calmly slotted his shot into the corner.

The U9 kestrels took another defeat from a superb @altyjnrs Asteroids side losing 9-1 but breaking it down we saw some of the greatest football our Kestrels have ever played. Our scorer was number 7 – EP. And out PoM is number 8 – BH

On a very heavy pitch, the under 12’s minus our two defensive rocks (both Jacobs), battled hard and raced into a 5-1 lead at half time.
We then managed to forget how to play at the start of the 2nd half and were pegged back to 5-3.
A penalty save from our ever improving goalie Alfie seemed to jolt us back into life. A game of basketball then took over as goals rained in with virtually every attack each team had. Luckily our 1st half advantage saw us home in the end.
Our season now reads P4, W2, L2, GF 15, GA14. Exciting stuff.
Under 13′s lost heavily away to new team Stockport dynamics. One of our players plus the ref decided to not come enabling their coach to wear special Arsene Wenger glasses that saw no fouls on 2 rare occasions our lads cut through looking dangerous plus a few other assaults.. Stockport were very strong… possibly the best side we have faced and lots of our players kept fighting to the end to be rewarded with a late consolation from our hare Sam Maher. The 8 we let in included some stonking long range u nstoppables. Next week we play Sale who won our division undefeated last season. Promotion from div 4 to 3 is going to give us plenty of tough matches but here’s hoping we can rise to the challenge.

U 15’s (Phoenix) home v Urmston meadowside

4-1 up at half time the opposition then seemed to lose their discipline in the second half & consequently their shape & structure (with the 2nd half being a tad one sided)
Offensively we were very strong with some excellent, slick, eye catching passing moves resulting in some impressive goals.
In midfield & defensively we were bedding in some new partnerships and understandably this will take a little bit of time to fully come together (we’ll work on this in training)
3 different players notched hat tricks today…but the victory was built on teamwork, passing, passing & more passing !!!
Team spirit was spot on ?(we don’t have any superstar players but a commitment to teamwork is paying dividends) remember the basics & keep it going lads ?
The U16 Girls won again on Saturday in a scrappy and challenging match v Radcliffe, a new and unknown team. Final score 5-3. West girls remain top of u16 South Manchester Girls League Division 2 and three points clear. This is in effect a Greater Manchester league now with teams from across the region.
U16’s Boys
Two weeks ago the under 16s gave up a 4-1 lead to draw with Wythenshawe amateurs so pleased that the chance for revenge came round quickly. This week saw no such loss of focus and the u16s ran out 6-0 winners. Started strongly, finished well, defended stoutly plus a Man of the match performance from the keeper ensured the clean sheet. Two goals from the two strikers (Eaton and Clifton) was good to see plus 2 own goals from set pieces where our big centre halves caused chaos and confusion in the wythenshawe box. West go back to the top of the table!
