James Cottee returns to West – West Didsbury & Chorlton AFC

James Cottee returns to West

We’re pleased to confirm the return of striker James Cottee, who has signed on at West ahead of Saturday’s trip to Stafford Town.

Originally brought to the club by Brad Cooke before the 2019/20 season, Cottee quickly made himself a popular figure at Brookburn Road and hit 18 goals in 23 starts before the campaign was cut short. He then had a brief spell at Northwich Victoria in the 2020/21 season.

The former Met Police, Ashford Town (Middlesex) and Corinthian-Casuals poacher scored crucial goals against Wythenshawe Amateurs and Alsager Town in the early days of Chris Rowley’s reign, and the West boss expressed his satisfaction at finally getting the move over the line.

Rowley said: “I’m delighted to have been able to get James back to the club. We had it all agreed for him to return from Northwich Victoria last season but the curtailment put a stop to the transfer.

“He is not only a fan favourite, he is also a big character in the dressing room. I said in pre-season that we would only bring players into the club that not only would improve us, but also would fit in with the group we have created since I’ve arrived – James fits the bill 100%.

“Welcome back James!”

James is available for player sponsorship – email for more information.
