RECREATION GROUND | BROOKBURN ROAD | CHORLTON | M21 8FE
by Matthew Durrant · 12/09/2017
Following an appeal by local foodbank Barak Food Aid, the club will be holding a collection for donations at Saturday’s game against Runcorn Town (3pm kick off, Brookburn Road, M21 8FE)
Barakah Food Aid provides food parcels to people who are struggling in and around Manchester. Earlier this week they put out a notice that they were very low on stock following an increase in the amount of families who using their service. Their appeal noted that they did not currently have enough food to pack parcels for the coming week – and, as a community club, we felt duty-bound to help out in any way that we could.
Below is a list of the kinds of foods that Barakah have asked to be collected. If you are unable to come to the game, you can also donate at the Barakah Foods shop itself, opposite the Tesco Metro on Barlow Moor Road. If you are unable to donate anything yourself, that is completely fine – we will not be pressuring or pushing supporters for contributions, and we are fully aware of the constraints that many families are under.
For those who are unable to come to the game, or who would prefer not to, Floral Affair (5 Chorlton Green, Manchester M21 9HS – just by the Horse & Jockey) will also be accepting donations on Saturday. Recently re-opened following a much deserved holiday, just pop in to Chorlton’s favourite florist and hand in any donations – they will be picked up shortly before the game.
If you or anyone you know may need help, please get in touch with Barakah – find out more here: https://www.facebook.com/pg/BarakahFoodAid/about/
