Following last season’s First Division South title-winning campaign, we return to Step 5 of the non-league system for the first time since 2019. Coincidentally, our first opponents are the same side that helped confirm our relegation three years ago – Ashton Athletic.

The opening week of the campaign has a familiar look, as we meet two sides that we faced in last season’s Lancashire Challenge Trophy run. Ashton’s Brocstedes Park is the opening-day destination, before Prestwich Heys visit Brookburn Road three days later in the season’s first 0161 clash. It will be a new-look Heys that travel along the M60, with manager Matt Barnes replaced by ex-Avro duo Lee O’Brien and James Hampson in the close season.

There is then a break for the FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round, before we take on two of the Premier Division’s stalwarts – with 26 years’ unbroken service between them. We travel to Congleton Town‘s Ivy Gardens on Tuesday 9th August, before welcoming Barnoldswick Town to M21 the following Saturday.

Recent First Division South and Macron Cup foes Vauxhall Motors are our hosts on Tuesday 16th August. Seven days later, near-neighbours Irlam navigate the Trafford Centre traffic for the resumption of a fixture that has so far provided 33 goals in eight matches.

We then break again for another FA competition, as the FA Vase gets underway, before our August concludes with a Bank Holiday Monday visit to Winsford United.

All fixtures are subject to postponements and alterations, while we expect news of our FA Cup and FA Vase opponents on Friday 8th July.
