Coming up for West in August

As summer blazes on, competitive football is almost finally back in M21. With that in mind, here’s what we’ve got to look forward to at Brookburn Road between now and September.

Highlights include, of course, the opening game of the season on August 14, where we welcome Northwich Victoria to the Recreation Ground in a game where both sides will be looking to get three points on the board early doors to boost chances of improved campaigns on last season’s underwhelming final positions. Elsewhere, the FA Cup campaign kicks off a week later, with Squires Gate the opponents.  As well as taking one step closer to Wembley the winning team will receive £2,250 in prize money (the losing team will receive £750) with the FA having announced their intentions to double FA Cup prize money this season. The winners will be rewarded with a trip to Evo-Stik League side Droylsden in the Preliminary Qualifying Round with the game set to take place on Saturday 25th August (which would replace the Bootle fixture on the same date).
