RECREATION GROUND | BROOKBURN ROAD | CHORLTON | M21 8FE
by Matthew Durrant · 01/08/2017
With 2016/17 being a record breaking season both on and off the pitch, West are proud to announce a similarly unique commemoration of our final campaign. In a collaboration between the WDCFC Supporters’ Club and artist Lew Currie, a limited edition 2016/17 season yearbook has been produced. Specially designed and illustrated by Lew – currently finishing an MA Illustration course at MMU – the publication features all of the most important statistics that defined the season – as well as writing from Barca Jim, Peter Jones, Paul Musco, and Matthew Britton, and an exclusive interview with Steve Settle.
“Since Lew got involved with the club last year, he’s been an unbelievable asset. The way fans reacted to his Penfold Pincher strip spoke volumes – within the space of a few weeks he’s created a character that is a part of the club’s folklore. When he came to myself and the club about creating a season yearbook, we immediately said yes – but never dreamed it would be this ambitious. It truly is a thing of beauty – I’m proud to have been involved”, said Supporters’ Club spokesman Matthew Britton.
Comprising 50 pages, the yearbook is being produced in a limited run of 50 and is being sold for £5, with all profits going towards the WDCFC Supporters’ Club fund. The book is available to pre-order from the fan club site at the following link, and will released on August 12th 2017: http://wdcfcfan.club/product/pre-order-west-didsbury-chorlton-201617-season-yearbook-by-lew-currie/
To celebrate the release of the book – and to welcome in a new campaign – we will be holding a launch event at Brookburn Road on the eve of the new season. From 7pm on Friday 11th August (West play our opening league fixture the day after) we will be exhibiting prints of Lew’s Penfold Pincher strip in the changing rooms, as well as selling the yearbook itself, tote bags and other merchandise. There will also be DJ sets throughout the evening, with the bar open to all. See the Facebook event here: https://www.facebook.com/events/460135797705058
