RECREATION GROUND | BROOKBURN ROAD | CHORLTON | M21 8FE

Back at home, back on grass, back to a league match. The pitch – soft, but playable.
A must win game for West as we lie perilously close to the bottom of the table. STF FC the only team below us at kick-off.
It was the visitors who had the first chance of the game, Leah forced into a good save with her right foot after 6 minutes, However, it didn’t take West long to settle into the game and to impose themselves.
Top scorer Rachael Dunlop, so often our saviour, stepped up to the plate again. She opened the scoring on 18 minutes, beating the offside trap and calmly finishing past the keeper. Her second came just 3 minutes later – lovely kick from Leah, Rach skips past defenders and another cool finish. Rach completed yet another hat-trick on 28 minutes when she received the ball 30 yards out, scythed through the defence and finished to the centre of goal. 3-0 to West and looking very comfortable. STF went close on 35 minutes but West immediately countered, Jami forcing a decent save.
Half-Time: West 3-0 STF
Brilliant restart for West, Sophie putting a nice ball in over the top, Rach outmuscling her marker and finishing for her and West’s 4th.
Shock in the crowd when 5 minutes later Rach missed not one but two good chances to extend the lead further.
It must have shocked the players too as very little happened for the next 10 minutes. Jami was replaced by Amy Vyas on 63 minutes.
5 minutes later and West were 5-0 up. Lovely link-up play from back to front, Kath Jones beating the offside trap and finishing well.
West were immediately back up the field from the restart, earning a corner which Ellie Caddick took and deliberately, unerringly, undoubtedly, brilliantly scored directly from it.
There were no further goals for West, but they were in firm control for 90% of the game, thoroughly deserving the win, and looking to get into a run of form.
Full-Time: West 6-0 STF
Team: Fish, Dolan, Caddick, Mason, Edmondson, Bracegirdle (Billington 70′), Hodges (Vyas 63′), Mitchell, Jones, Dunlop (Francis 70′), Livesey.
