Saturday’s comprehensive 5-1 win over Brocton took West’s record over the past five games to 15 points won, 20 goals scored and just two goals conceded. Ben Elliott’s treble against the Badgers took his tally to nine for the season, and moved him to joint-second in the First Division South top scorer chart. With New Mills not in action this midweek, a win for West on Merseyside would take them top of the league for the first time this season.
Cammell Laird suffered a heavy 6-1 defear at home to FC Isle of Man at the weekend – their third defeat in succession, and a result which left them 14th in the table. Former AFC Liverpool boss Stuart Kier’s side are yet to draw so far this season, and have won three and lost six of their nine fixtures.
