West v 1874 Northwich
Brookburn Road, Chorlton, M21 8FE
£5 adults / £3 concessions / free for under-12s
West return to Brookburn Road for the first time in almost a month as they welcome 1874 Northwich.
The home side’s form has slumped since beating Whitchurch Alport in their last home outing at the end of August – last weekend’s 4-1 reverse at Congleton Town was their fourth defeat in a row. But 1874 have made a similarly spluttering start to the season and have also registered just the one league success so far this season. The Greens’ FA Cup run was cut short by Burscough, but they have been given a bye to the second round proper of the FA Vase following last season’s run to the semi-finals.
1874 were left cursing their luck after a controversial defeat at Runcorn Town last time out, but there was some good news off the pitch – the club confirmed a ground-share with Barnton starting next season, representing a move closer to their spiritual home after playing in Winsford since their formation in 2013.
Steve Settle will be without Tom Bailey, who scored three goals in four games against his former side last season, but will be able to call upon Ben Woods who signed from the Greens earlier this month.
