RECREATION GROUND | BROOKBURN ROAD | CHORLTON | M21 8FE

West U18s manager and Junior section chair Tim Manley tells us about a special game at The Step Places Stadium this Sunday, 1st May (kick off at 10am, bar open from 11:30am):
“West U18s play their final game in junior football this Sunday and in a new tradition, the Junior section teams will play their final ever home game on the first team pitch.
“Most of the lads have been in the team since they were eight years old (playing for Oswald Road, before a merger with West) and have had many ups and downs - losing their first game 23-0 - but this year they won their league (the Timperley & District Junior Football League Youth section Bundesliga).
“On Sunday, kick off 10am, they will play Hough End Griffins in the local derby to finish their time in junior football. While the league is won there is still the chance for our top striker to win the division's golden boot if he can bag a few, and local pride to play for, so it should be a good game.
“At the end of the game, club chairman Steve Eckersley will present the Bundesliga trophy and the league winners' medals to the lads.
Why not come along and support? If you are a West regular you will probably recognise the players as the barmen and stewards that you see on a match day, so even more reason to come and cheer them on!”
We hope to see you there!
