NPL Premier Divison side Warrington Rylands are the opponents for West's third pre-season friendly of the 2023 summer programme, and the first back at The Step Places Stadium.

West come into this warm-up match on the back of two games in two countries featuring ten goals. A 6-0 victory in Conwy last weekend was followed up by a 3-1 besting at Stockport Town. For Rylands, this is the opening game of their pre-season schedule having not played since a 3-3 draw at Morpeth Town on April 24th, a result which confirmed a top 10 finish in their first ever season at step 3.

Rylands have embarked on a swift ascent through the NLS since joining ahead of the 2018/19 season, winning the NWCFL Division 1 South title at the first attempt, achieving immediate promotion from the NWCFL Premier Division across the two covid-affected seasons, before promptly conquering the NPL Division 1 West.

The two clubs have never met in a competitive fixture, with the sole meeting a 2-1 defeat for West at Gorsey Lane in pre-season five years ago.

Rylands' traditional home colours are all blue.

By car:

We encourage supporters to use public transport, cycle or walk if possible. 

There is no parking available at the ground for supporters at all. Please instead use Hardy Farm, M21 8DP.

Please also note that there is no parking available on Brookburn Road and the surrounding Chorltonville area as they are private, maintained and exclusively for the use of residents.

There is additional public car parking on Chorlton Ees opposite The Bowling Green pub, who are also allowing supporters to use the pub car park, but there is little other on-street parking.

By public transport:

The Step Places Stadium is one mile from Chorlton Metrolink station, on the East Didsbury and Manchester Airport lines. Follow Google Maps directions to find your way to the ground.

If you are travelling from outside the Greater Manchester area, the Metrolink network can be accessed from any of Manchester’s central train stations. Visit the Transport for Greater Manchester website for tram times and more information.

By cycle:

The Step Places Stadium is a perfect location for those who cycle, being located next to the River Mersey, Sale Ees and only a few minutes away from the Fallowfield Cycle Loop. We have secure bicycle racks inside the ground to lock up your bike throughout the game. Please ask a volunteer if you need assistance.
