Preview
West Women are back at Brookburn Road this Sunday as promotion-chasing Mancunian Unity make the journey to M21.
A disappointing 2-0 loss at Crewe Alexandra last weekend saw West drop to 9th and just one place above the relegation zone, albeit with a four point cushion over 10th place Poulton Vics.
Mancunian Unity have had another strong start to the season. They are 2nd behind AFC Fylde, and have won four of their opening five games. Their first blank came last weekend when they were beaten 2-1 at home by Bolton Wanderers, but prior to that they had taken maximum points from games against Fleetwood Town, Crewe Alexandra, Curzon Ashton and Poulton Vics. Their player to watch seems to be Olivia Shaw, who has managed five goals and three assists from four starts this term.

About Mancunian Unity
Unity were formed in the Summer of 2019 and have had a very quick trajectory to reach this point. The club's website says that they were established with the aim of providing "equal opportunity for women and girls to breakdown the barriers for females within the football world".
Last season was Unity's first in this division and they managed an impressive 3rd place finish. Prior to that, Sunday's visitors had enjoyed three successive promotions to take them from the Greater Manchester Division One to the NWWRL Premier Division.
They have played their home games at Avro FC until this season, when they officially moved into Chadderton FC's redeveloped stadium for the duration of the 25/26 season.
Last season Unity won 3-0 when they came to Brookburn Road, but West managed to pick up an impressive 1-1 when the sides met at Avro in February. That match was played on a blustery afternoon where the weather certainly played a part, but the draw (thanks to an early West goal from Becca Simpson) all-but-secured West's Premier Division survival and saw Unity drop home league points for the first time in over five months.

Directions to the Step Places Stadium
We encourage supporters to use public transport, cycle or walk if possible.
By car:
There is no parking available at the ground for supporters, except for pre-booked disability access.
Please instead use Hardy Farm, M21 8DP.
Disability spaces must be accessed no later than one hour before kickoff and all vehicles will be unable to exit until 15 minutes after the final whistle to ensure the safety of all supporters leaving the stadium.
There is additional public car parking on Chorlton Ees opposite The Bowling Green pub, who are also allowing supporters to use the pub car park, but there is little other on-street parking.
Please also note that there is no parking available on Brookburn Road itself, nor the surrounding Chorltonville area, as they are privately maintained, exclusively for the use of residents.
By public transport:
The Step Places Stadium is one mile from Chorlton Metrolink station, on the East Didsbury and Manchester Airport lines. Follow Google Maps directions to find your way to the ground.
If you are travelling from outside the Greater Manchester area, the Metrolink network can be accessed from any of Manchester’s central train stations. Visit the Transport for Greater Manchester website for tram times and more information.
By cycle:
The Step Places Stadium is a perfect location for those who cycle, being located next to the River Mersey, Sale Ees and only a few minutes away from the Fallowfield Cycle Loop. We have secure bicycle racks inside the ground to lock up your bike throughout the game. Please ask a volunteer if you need assistance.
