Preview
West Women play their first home game of the season on Wednesday night as Curzon Ashton travel to Brookburn Road.
West lost their season opener on Sunday as they were beaten 7-0 away at a very strong AFC Fylde side. West will however take solace from the fact that AFC Fylde have spent most of their recent history playing at a far higher level (they played two divisions higher as recently as the 2023/24 season) and that this match against Curzon is likely to be a more realistic indicator of where West currently are as a team.
Curiously, this is the second season running where West have began their NWWRL campaign with a 7-0 loss before then hosting the Nashettes in their second game.
Wednesday's visitors also started 25/26 with a defeat on Sunday as Crewe Alexandra travelled to East Manchester and came away with a 3-2 win. That was Curzon's first competitive defeat since January though, and their impressive form throughout the latter stages of last season saw them finish 4th in the NWWRL Premier Division.
They were also crowned champions of the Alliance Design & Print Plate in May after beating Fleetwood Town Wrens Ladies in the final.
West fans are reminded that, for the first time, they can use their season tickets to attend all West Women's league matches this season.

Previous Meetings
Last season West picked up one point from their two meetings with Curzon. As stated above, the first meeting came at Brookburn Road in the second league match of the season, and the visitors left M21 with a resounding 5-1 win. West substitute Catherine Ann Thompson scored a consolation goal in second-half stoppage time for West, but the game was long since thanks to four goals from visiting forward Amy Smith, who completed a hat-trick inside half an hour.
West did have the opportunity to make amends less than a fortnight later however, and did so by drawing 2-2 on a rainy afternoon in Tameside courtesy of goals from Helena Irving and Rachel Mason.

Disability spaces must be accessed no later than one hour before kickoff and all vehicles will be unable to exit until 15 minutes after the final whistle to ensure the safety of all supporters leaving the stadium.
There is additional public car parking on Chorlton Ees opposite The Bowling Green pub, who are also allowing supporters to use the pub car park, but there is little other on-street parking.
Please also note that there is no parking available on Brookburn Road itself, nor the surrounding Chorltonville area, as they are privately maintained, exclusively for the use of residents.
