Tuesday evening sees West's sixth game of the summer, a short trip to Cheadle Heath Nomads of the NWCFL Division 1 South.

The two teams have met competitively on four occasions, West enjoying an unbeaten record over those games, though only one ending in victory; a memorable 5-0 away win in January 2020. Both meetings during West's 2021/22 promotion season ended in score draws, the most recent seeing a last-gap equaliser from Tom Horner cancel out Ben Elliott's opener to earn a 1-1 tie in February 2022.

Nomads are about to enter their sixth season in the non-league system, securing top-half finishes in the NWCFL Division 1 South in each of their previous five.

Achieving a creditable 8th placed finish in 2022/23, Nomads didn't get a win on the board until November 5th but, after new manager Rory Fallon was installed later that month, just three further defeats were suffered as they embarked on a rise up the table. The playoffs were out of reach but that'll be the aim for 2023/24.

Fallon has since departed for Wythenshawe Town, being replaced by Altrincham FC Academy Manager Paul Fay who will fulfil both roles.

Nomads' traditional home colours are maroon and sky blue.

Directions

By car:

If travelling anti-clockwise on the M60, come off at Junction 1 and take the inside lane slip road to the first exit off the roundabout. Take the right-hand filter lane to Cheadle (note both lanes filter right) and at the second set of lights turn right onto the A560 Brinksway.

Follow the A560 for approx 1.5 miles passing Morrison's on the left and Aldi on the right. Take left lane at the next lights and turn left onto Edgeley Road. Follow for 500 yards and turn left at the mini roundabout onto Birdhall Lane. Take second right onto Cheltenham Road and second left onto Normanton Avenue which leads to Norbreck Avenue. Note this is a single lane road under the railway arch and the ground is immediately on the right under the arch.

If travelling clockwise on the M60, come off at Junction 2 and take the second exit towards Stockport (A560). You will come to a set of lights, fork right by the Farmers Arms onto Edgeley Road, then at the mini roundabout by Morrison's turn right into Birdhall Lane. Follow directions above from Birdhall Lane.

There is parking space at the ground for around 50 cars, and limited on street parking in the vicinity.

By public transport:

Nearest rail station: Stockport (1.7 miles, around 30 mins walk)

The 11, 11a and 309 buses all run along Stockport Road, adjacent to the ground, which is five minutes walk from the stop close to the Farmer Arms. All of these services depart from Stockport bus station and are relatively frequent.

The ground houses a licensed sports club, with a kitchen next to the ground for tea and coffee. There are hard standing areas around the ground and 50 covered seats.
