West host bottom-of-the-league Prestwich Heys on Tuesday night following a dramatic weekend win over Colne.

This game in hand gives West a great opportunity to gain further ground on the top 4 and create breathing space ahead of the chasing pack.

Saturday's win, coupled with Irlam and Padiham both drawing, lifted West back into the playoff places as the season enters the home straight. Irlam aren't in action until the weekend, while Padiham and Chadderton both have cup distractions.

Similarly to Colne, Prestwich come into this game in a lowly position but with the form guide belying their season. Having won their last four home games to get within touch of the teams above, a win at Brookburn Road on Tuesday could lift Heys outside the relegation zone for the first time since September.

Unfortunately for Heys, since a last-minute win at Squires Gate on August Bank Holiday weekend they've picked up only one point from 11 away trips, a 2-2 draw at Charnock Richard in October. In the same period West have taken 34 points from a possible 42 at Brookburn Road.

However, football isn't played on paper as October's reverse fixture showed, when West did well to rescue a point from 2-0 down.

Victor Abadaki's recent impact from the bench gives West manager Paul Marshall decisions to make. The gaffer may elect to keep Abadaki's threat in reserve, and with eight goals from his last six substitute appearances it would be hard to disagree.

Goalkeeper Ollie Martin serves the final game of a three-game ban so Jack Atkinson will continue in goal, while Finlay Holyoak is unlikely to feature after breaking his nose in training.

We also give a warm welcome back to Lee Grimshaw, who departed West for Heys last month. Grimshaw wore the West shirt 89 times, scoring 16 goals, and is sure to receive a good reception from the Brookburn Road crowd.

Prestwich Heys were formed in 1938 at Heys Road Boys School and they established themselves as ‘Heys Old Boys AFC’. Throughout their early years they built a reputation as being one of the best amateur teams in the country and they won several pieces of silverware in the Lancashire region. It is understood that they changed their name to Prestwich Heys AFC in 1964 as a means of acknowledging the national fame that their recent successes had apparently brought them.

Heys were founder members of the North West Counties Football League in 1982. They were relegated back to the Manchester League in 1996, where they remained until 2016 when they fought their way back to the big time, maintaining Counties membership ever since.

They play their football at Adie Moran Park, named after former chairman Adie Moran who passed away shortly before the 2007/08 season, aged just 43.

We encourage supporters to use public transport, cycle or walk if possible.

There is no parking available at the ground for supporters, except for pre-booked disability access.

Please instead use Hardy Farm, M21 8DP.

Disability spaces must be accessed no later than one hour before kickoff and all vehicles will be unable to exit until 15 minutes after the final whistle to ensure the safety of all supporters leaving the stadium.

There is additional public car parking on Chorlton Ees opposite The Bowling Green pub, who are also allowing supporters to use the pub car park, but there is little other on-street parking.

Please also note that there is no parking available on Brookburn Road itself, nor the surrounding Chorltonville area, as they are privately maintained, exclusively for the use of residents.
