Following the postponement of the original fixture back in November, West travel to Wythenshawe looking to return back up the airport Metrolink line with all three points - but a strong Town side stand in their way.

Wythenshawe Town were 2-0 up - though down to 10 men - when the first attempt at playing this tie was abandoned. Then-West defender Chris Middleton earned a yellow for a 50/50 challenge that unfortunately saw Town's Tom Wilson leave the ground in an ambulance due to a gashed leg, and the game brought to an early close. League rules dictated that the match must be replayed, having not reached the threshold to count as a result.

Town will rightfully be fired up for the game, especially given the opportunity it affords in the promotion race. Sitting three points behind West, Wythenshawe also have three games in hand - and wins in all three would see them as one of the favourites to go up. The club have this week announced big expansion plans for their clubhouse and those, teamed with the quality in their squad, mean that anything less that promotion would almost certainly be viewed as a disappointment for Town fans. They come into this fixture having won 4 of their last 6 games, with their game at the weekend being a good 4-2 win away at New Mills.

West, of course, have similar aims to end the campaign in the top 4. A period of upheaval towards the end of last year threatened to completely derail the season, but there have been green shoots of late: Saturday's win away at third placed Stone Old Alleynians was, on paper, the best win of the season - and our own mixed results have been similarly matched by all of those around us. A win in Wythenshawe still won't be enough to put the promotion race back in our own hands, but it would come close. Stone away certainly looked like a marker of where this side are currently at, but this game will be a true representation of whether that performance, or the loss at Cheadle Town less than a week ago, is what to expect for the run in.
