West face the second of four back to back games in cup competitions with the visit of Trafford as both sides begin their Frank Hannah Manchester FA Premier Cup campaigns.

This will be the first meeting between the two sides since a friendly back in 2017, in which the visitors - featuring a certain Ash Woods up front - left Brookburn Road with a 4-1 win. Since then, Trafford have consistently troubled the upper echelons of the Northern Premier League First Division, while West have suffered a relegation. Trafford currently sit in 9th - the same position they ended last season - and come into this game on the back of a three game unbeaten run (2-2 vs City of Liverpool, 3-2 vs Dunston, and a 1-0 win over Prescot Cables on Saturday).

Trafford were dumped out of the Frank Hannah last season in the quarter final stage by Radcliffe, whereas West went out at the first time of asking in this same round by Droylsden. Trafford have at least lifted this trophy once, beating Hyde in the final back in 2014, when penalties were needed to separate the two sides after a 2-2 draw in the final. West are yet to make it past the semi-final stage, but will look back on past memories created in this competition with a certain fondness: away trips to Hyde, Glossop, and, most memorably, FC United, mean the Premier Cup will have a place in the heart of many West fans.

A straightforward 4-0 win on Saturday didn't come with any injury complications, meaning Brad Cooke will have much the same squad available to him for this game. The temptation to rotate may be negated by the level of opposition being faced, but Ash Woods will certainly be pushing to his case to play, having turned out with distinction for both teams.
