West welcome promotion rivals Eccleshall to Brookburn Road on what promises to be a pivotal afternoon at the top of the First Division South.

As well as fifth-placed West hosting fourth-placed Eccleshall, second and third also face off as Stone Old Alleynians play Oswestry Town and two sides coming up on the rails go up against each other as Wythenshawe Town play Cheadle Town.

A lot of water has passed under the bridge since West coasted to a 4-0 win at Eccleshall on the opening day of the season, and the visitors shook off that August defeat to become something of a surprise package in the promotion race. They currently sit fourth, though West have two games in hand on tomorrow's visitors and can leapfrog them with a win.

Last time we met

Saturday 3rd August 2019, Eccleshall 0-4 West: West swept aside Eccleshall to give Brad Cooke a perfect start to his managerial reign.

This was as straightforward an opening assignment as new boss Cooke could possibly have wished for, with James Cottee, Jamie Forbes and Matt Eckersley all converting Matty Boland set-pieces to effectively seal the points by half time. Josh Tinker added a fourth late on to round off a comfortable win over an unravelling home side, who had Miles Johnson sent off for a crude challenge on Lee Grimshaw after 55 minutes.

The West side that day: A. Jones, Cook, Cooper, Tinker, Eckersley, Forbes, Grimshaw (C. Jones), Gavin, Cottee (Moloney), Holt (A. Woods), Boland.
