West and Maine Road cross swords on Easter Monday for an eagerly-awaited latest instalment of the South Manchester derby.
The sides have already met twice this season, both times at Brantingham Road - West swept Road aside in the Manchester Premier Cup in October, but Road snatched all three points in a tense Boxing Day league encounter.
Steve Settle's side won't struggle for motivation ahead of this third derby of the season. West have yet to beat Maine Road at Brookburn Road since joining the NWCFL and will also be desperate to avenge that painful festive defeat, when Jack Coop's late penalty proved decisive. They can rise as high as 11th with victory, as well as inflict a potentially critical blow to their neighbours' survival hopes.
Maine Road claimed a late equaliser at home to Squires Gate on Saturday, but with games beginning to run out, they need wins if they are to remain in the Premier Division for a 14th successive season. They currently lie three points behind Burscough with a significantly inferior goal difference, a situation not helped by an 8-2 hammering at home to Hanley Town on 10th March. Coop's goals will be vital if Matt Barnes' team are to clamber out of trouble - their top scorer has five in his last four appearances.
As well as valuable league points, the teams will also be playing for the Rob Turley Memorial Trophy in remembrance of West's former player, manager and chairman. Click here to find out more.
