West travel to High Peak looking to get back on track against a New Mills team who have begun to turn around their season.

Brad Cooke’s side tasted league defeat for the first time this season on Saturday, with the quick turnaround between games perhaps being a blessing for a side who can immediately look to put their promotion push back on course. A Monday night defeat for second-placed Oswestry Town away at midtable Maine Road offered some reassurance that the Division One South is a tricky proposition for all sides, while also opening the door for West to sneak further up the league if they are to win their games in hand.

Following a disappointing start to the season for New Mills - not aided by the potential flooding in nearby Whaley Bridge leading to the necessary postponement of early fixtures - they’ve added to their management team at the start of September and have seen results improve. A close loss at home to Oswestry Town was followed by 1-1 draws against Cheadle Heath Nomads and Alsager Town: their first two points of the season. With new faces having joined the squad over the past few weeks, they’ll be hoping to notch their first win of the season this evening to put some daylight between themselves and bottom-placed Ellesmere Rangers.

James Sigsworth will be eligible to play for West this evening, while former West player Georgi Whyment is registered for New Mills.

How we stand

No result could see West move up the table this evening - but a win is vital to keep in touch with the top 3 - whereas a Cammell Laird win in one of the evening's other fixtures could see us drop to 5th with either a draw and a five-goal swing, or a loss. A win for New Mills would see them rise to 18th. (Please note - the table below has not been updated to include Maine Road 3 - 1 Oswestry Town, played on Monday night)
