West head to Cammell Laird for a second away game of the week, seeking a return to winning ways.

Tuesday's 3-3 draw at New Mills was a second game without success for Brad Cooke's side, representing something of a blip after a resounding start to the season.

Despite a return of one point from a possible six, West remain in a good position in the First Division South promotion places, four points off frontrunners Vauxhall Motors. But this weekend's outing to Birkenhead promises to be a stiff test of West's powers of recovery, against a side just three points and two places behind them in the table.

The Camells suffered their own setback in midweek, losing 3-2 at home to Alsager Town, but have otherwise made a solid start as they look to return to the Premier Division for the first time since 2017. They can also boast the division's highest scorer, Luke Blondel, who has 11 goals already this season - including four against Maine Road in August.
