Forty-eight hours after West's FA Cup heroics at Stalybridge Celtic, the focus returns to league points as Brad Cooke's side head to Barnton.

While West were in cup action, the league programme continued and Oswestry Town saw their 100% start comprehensively ended at Sandbach United. There are now just two points separating second and fifth as the First Division South frontrunners appear to be organising themselves.

With the top two, Vauxhall Motors and Oswestry, facing off in Shropshire on Monday, there is an opportunity to make inroads at the top of the table. But West will be wary of a Barnton side that ended a two-game losing streak to see off Cheadle Town on Friday night, particularly as the Villagers were something of a thorn in West's side the last time we shared a division - in 2017-18, West had to come from two goals down to win in mid-Cheshire before Barnton claimed their first win of the season in M21.

How we stand

Last time we met

Tuesday 14th November 2017, West 1-4 Barnton: The visitors claimed what was their first win of the 2017-18 season on a truly miserable night for the home side in M21. Matty Kay finished the evening in the West goal after an injury to Conrad Betton and the Villagers, ultimately relegated with 19 points, eased to three points in front of Brookburn Road's last double-digit crowd to date.

The West team that evening: Betton (Whyment), Mason, Botchey (Weston), Tinker, Sergeant, Potts, Shaw (Poizer), Rydings, Bailey, Kay, A. Woods.

Getting to Townfield

Barnton's ground is one of the more difficult to access by public transport, so we do not advise making the trip to mid-Cheshire by combination of tram, train and bus. The journey from Chorlton to Barnton takes around 30 minutes by road.
