MATCH PREVIEW | Abbey Hey v West

Friday 6th April 2018 (7.45pm), NWCFL Premier Division
Abbey Hey v West
Abbey Stadium, Goredale Avenue, Gorton, M18 7HD
£5 adults, £3 concessions, free for under-12s

After the disappointment of Easter Monday's South Manchester derby postponement, West will look for a third successive win when they face more local opposition in the form of Abbey Hey.

An ill-timed downpour washed away the whole of Monday's NWCFL programme, with Abbey's game at home to Irlam also being postponed.

West will hope to regain the momentum built up by back-to-back wins against Congleton Town and Charnock Richard, while Abbey can call upon their own good form - they have only lost once in the last four games, and swept aside relegated Barnton last Saturday. Both sides have created breathing space above the bottom four, but will be wary of the relegation zone being expanded in the event of unlikely changes at the bottom of the Northern Premier League Division One North and South.

Friday's game will be a quick reunion after the reverse fixture six weeks ago. In February, Tom Bailey's 87th-minute equaliser salvaged a point at Brookburn Road after a quickfire Abbey double had overturned Ash Woods' opener.
