West are back on the road as we travel to Stockport Town for our second game of the NWCFL season.

NWCFL First Division South

West's hard-fought 2-1 win at Alsager Town on Saturday secured a first three points of the season, but in keeping with a hectic opening period of the season - with eight games in August in all competitions - Chris Rowley's side are straight back into action.
Recent games against Stockport Town have been tight affairs, with all three games since August 2019 being decided by the odd goal (two in favour of West, one for the Lions) and the home side will be determined to make amends after dropping points on the opening day. Despite having a man advantage against Abbey Hey for 84 minutes, a stoppage-time equaliser pegged them back at 2-2.
The Lions underwent something of a makeover in the summer, developing intimate links with neighbours Stockport County and announcing former Blackburn Rovers striker and Chorley manager Matt Jansen as their new boss. Midfielder Paul Turnbull was appointed captain after signing from Curzon Ashton, and was followed by a host of players who represented County at youth level last season.
