RECREATION GROUND | BROOKBURN ROAD | CHORLTON | M21 8FE
by Matthew Durrant · 04/02/2019
Despite the fact that this weekend was a write off thanks to Chorlton being snowed under, Nick Syrett from our Junior section still found the time to give an update of the weekends events from the point of view of our youth teams.
Usual service will (hopefully) resume next weekend.

With the prospect of the kind of icy blast not seen since fans thought Krombacher stocks were running low in the Brookburn Road clubhouse, this weekends fixtures were hugely under threat from the Polar Vortex. As early as Friday lunch time the question was already being posed, “Will it take a stud?” The well hewn stud muffins (Tim and Luke) of the junior ranks were duly dispatched to the winter wonderland that was Hardy Farm. Despite Bozz’s best efforts to power the Wattbike driven, under heating system housed in the WD&C beer shed, all home games were sadly abandoned for the weekend. The harsh realisation that our very own coaching “Chippendales” had failed the stud test may have far reaching psychological ramifications. If you see the chiseled chaps anytime this week, please pass on your thanks for the inspection, and perhaps ask them if they’ve been working out, just to give them a lift.
With the arctic conditions pushing into the weekend, all away games were postponed too. Even the mini dudes were given the weekend off as the sub zero temperatures gave club stalwart Joe Traynor an unusual weekend off to finally fix that tap that's been dripping since 1998.
In other club worthy news, your reporter is the proud owner of a new ball bag. The untimely ripping incident in the recent cold weather is now behind me. Thanks for the concern and well wishes. Sports Direct has supplied a new one for me, so all is set for next week. Game on. Better luck with the weather this week.
