RECREATION GROUND | BROOKBURN ROAD | CHORLTON | M21 8FE
by Matthew Durrant · 05/02/2019
With West facing another Saturday off before the return to league football, the club is happy to announce an additional friendly fixture on the second weekend of the month. We will welcome Wythenshawe Amateurs to Brookburn Road on Saturday 9 February for a 2pm kick off.
Our opponents currently sit 3rd in the NWCFL First Division South (one league below West), and stand a good chance of earning promotion this year. Their debut season in the league currently sees Ammies 4 points behind league leaders Rylands with a game in hand, with this friendly being the perfect excuse for them to stay fresh ahead of the final 13 games of the league schedule. We last faced Amateurs in pre-season, with West running out 5-0 winners in a game that saw Ben Steer get some of his final goals in a West shirt before moving to Wythenshawe rivals Town.
The game will be free entry - although donations towards costs would be hugely appreciated, but not expected. The clubhouse will be open as usual throughout the game, and we would love to see you down at Brookburn Road to cheer on the boys in this mid-season friendly. Goal updates will be available through Twitter, and our next league fixture following this game, which sees us take on Charnock Richard on Saturday 16 February. News of any further friendly fixtures will be announced in due course.
