West Didsbury & Chorlton Women’s team will have to overcome Warrington Wolverines and City of Liverpool on the same day TWICE in their bid to secure promotion from the NWWRFL Division One South.
With just six weeks left in the season West Women, still fighting for honours on three fronts having reached the Semi-Finals of the Manchester Women’s Challenge Cup and Quarter Finals of the Argyle Sports Cup, have a minimum of 11 games and as many as 13 still to play.
West’s monster run-in begins on Thursday when they make the short trip to Hollyhedge Park to face Wythenshawe Amateurs under the lights, 7:30pm KO. West then turn their attention to cup action with the hosting of FC United in the Semi-Finals of the Manchester Women’s Challenge Cup on Saturday 24th March at Brookburn Road, 2pm KO. Should they emerge victorious from this game they will face the winners of the other semi-final between Manchester Stingers and Salford City on Friday 26th April.
The following weekend West host Chester in the Quarter Finals of the Argyle Sports Cup on Sunday 31st March, 2pm KO. The winners of that game will then travel to Stockport County in the semi finals at the Stockport Sports Village on Sunday 7th April. The winners of that will then head to Runcorn Linnets FC on Sunday 19th May where they will face the winners of the other semi-final FC United or Penrith v Merseyrail.
April see’s West facing eight leagues games in four weeks beginning with a trip to Failsworth Sports Centre where they face Curzon Ashton on Sunday 7th April (subject to Argyle Sports Cup progress). This is followed by a mid-week visit to Mersey Valley Sports Club where they will take on Altrincham, 6:30pm KO, on Wednesday 10th April.
West’s first double header takes place on Sunday 17th April when they will host back-to-back games against title challengers Warrington Wolverines at Brookburn Road with the first game kicking off at 1:30pm. This is followed by the visit of Northwich Vixens on Wednesday 17th April before West travel to Merseyside for their second double header. Having already failed to fulfil the original two fixtures; West will now be forced to travel to Childwall School and play back-to-back games against City of Liverpool on Sunday 21st April.
West will hopefully round off their league campaign on Sunday 28th April when they welcome current league leaders Liverpool Feds Reserves, 2pm KO.
