This Friday (7th July) will see the club learn of their first opponents of the season as draws for both the opening rounds of the 2017/18 FA Cup and FA Vase are to be made. Confirmation of the time of the draw, as well as when the full announcement of fixtures, is yet to be confirmed by The FA.
The Extra Preliminary Round of the Emirates FA Cup is scheduled to be played on Saturday 5th August, with the winner of any tie then due to play in the preliminary round on Saturday 19th August. In last season's competition, West were drawn against AFC Liverpool, progressing to the next round after a replay but losing at home to Squires Gate to end the cup run.
The First Qualifying Round of the Buildbase FA Vase is scheduled to be played on Saturday 9 September, with the following round slated for Saturday 23 September. Last season, West fell at the first hurdle after extra time away to Penistone Town - although the previous season's exploits will live longer in the memory of many. Having made the First Round of the Vase by beating a beleaguered Dinnington Town team 15-1, West conceded 4 goals by half time at home to Morpeth Town, before valiantly clawing back to parity by the end of the allotted 90 minutes - and then immediately gifting the visitors a winner. Having scraped a 5-4 victory, Morpeth then went on to win the Vase outright.
The first batch of Hallmark Security League fixtures will also be made available in the coming weeks.
