The club is delighted to announce that David Powell has been appointed as First Team Manager following a selection process which saw the club receive over 30 applications for the post.

David has extensive management and coaching experience across the North West Counties and beyond. Most recently he oversaw Skelmersdale United’s successful fight against relegation from the Evostik North in 2017/18, having previously been involved in the management set-up at Radcliffe Borough, Warrington Town, Prescot Cables, and Ashton United, amongst others.

Club Chairman Glyn Meacher said:

“The club was very impressed with the quality of the applicants. David stood out, due to his depth of experience, quality of the backroom team he plans to bring in, and his clearly researched plans on how to work on improving our current league position. We were also hugely impressed with his buy in to our long term vision. All at the club would like to thank everyone who applied for the role for their interest, and welcome David to West Didsbury and Chorlton”

In response to his appointment, David Powell said:

“I am delighted to be returning to the NWCFL with West Didsbury and Chorlton Football Club, after spending the last 8 years managing and coaching in the Evostik League. West have largely been progressing very nicely over that time and I feel sure that despite the current setback I can help get the Club back on track. We have a big job on this season but along with my supporting back up team headed by assistant manager Stuart Humphreys, we will be giving it our all. We are looking forward to meeting the existing squad, and also the volunteers and supporters at the Club over the forthcoming weeks”

Further details on the make-up of the management team will be announced in due course. David will take charge immediately, including tonight’s first team training session - his first game in charge will come this Saturday, as we travel to Whitchurch Alport in the North West Counties Premier Division.
