We are delighted to announce the signing of Curtis Jones.
The 31 year old centre-back joins us after leaving FC United of Manchester last month. Curtis became a fans’ favourite at FCUM for his commitment to the club on and off the pitch. He made 159 appearances for them since joining in 2019.
Curtis is excited to get going in white and black, telling us, “I’m buzzing to get started! The fanbase and the club will only go one place and that’s why I have joined to help the club achieve that.”
After starting his career in the youth academy of Stockport County, Curtis moved to Celtic in 2009. The defender then had short stints with Bristol City and Livingston before joining Welsh side TNS. He also includes Nantwich, Southport and Ashton United as his former clubs before he began his five year spell at FC United of Manchester.
Paul Marshall sees Jones as a massive addition to the squad, “We’re absolutely delighted to get Curt on board. We’ve known him for a while which was a huge factor in convincing him to join West. He’s played for FC United for the last 5 years and captained them. He’s only 31 and exactly the type of player and character the squad needs to help us reach another level. We’re excited to see what he brings.”
Curtis goes into the squad for today’s trip to Charnock Richard.
Welcome to West, Curtis!
