RECREATION GROUND | BROOKBURN ROAD | CHORLTON | M21 8FE

West Didsbury & Chorlton have written to the Cheshire Football League confirming to resign the Reserve Team from the competition with immediate effect.
Following the resignation of Danny Iredale in June the club searched for a new replacement but only received one applicant for the position. Despite the best efforts from several committee members and reserve team player Jack Llewandowski the club was unable to register a single player the week before season leaving the football club but to pull out of the league. The club has not taken the decision lightly, having sustained, with the exception of the outbreak of both world wars, second team football continuously since 1908.
The club wishes to reiterate its commitment to both community and development football and the continued growth of football in the South Manchester area. The club has already begun work on a new strategy to ensure that a new support structure of helping players make the transition from junior to adult football.
Chairman Glyn Meacher added: “We’d like to pass on our thanks to the Cheshire League and its member clubs for providing both a very professionally run and competitive league offering a strong standard of football.”
“We already have provisional plans in place for the future and will work hard to ensure that the absence of a reserve team at West is only a temporary one.”
The club would like to thank the Cheshire League council and its member clubs for their patience and understanding at this decision and we wish them the best for the season ahead.
