West picked up a first league win in four outings, scoring in each half to record a comfortable victory over Stockport Town.
Paul Riley and Tom Murray returned to the line-up after coming off the bench in Tuesday's win at Wythenshawe Town, while Connor Hughes started for the first time since the defeat at Irlam. Jake Kenny and Lewis Billingsley moved to the bench while Cameron Darkwah misses out.
Recent signings Harvey Roberts and Andy Briggs both opened their West accounts, Roberts breaking the deadlock with a glorious postage stamp free kick on 31 minutes.
West survived a brief scare when Town won a penalty shortly after half-time, but it was blazed over Ollie Martin's bar in front of the Shed and Briggs soon doubled the lead with a superb header, expertly generating power to loop the ball over a crowded goal area and into Josh Schofield's net.
West saw the game out to ensure a repeat of last month's FA Vase scoreline and extend their unblemished home record against the Lions to half a dozen matches, more than any other club,
The three points sees West move up to 7th and back within touching distance of the playoffs, benefitting from results elsewhere to have destiny returned to their own control.
Thank you to the 883 supporters in attendance and good luck to Stockport Town for the rest of the season. Our focus now turns to the FA Vase 3rd Round as Silsden visit Brookburn Road next Saturday.
