Match Preview
West face City of Liverpool on Monday afternoon with the aim of building on last weekend's FA Cup success against Brighouse Town.
Despite West now being just one win away from equalling last season's historic FA Cup run, manager Paul Marshall knows that his side's league form will need to improve. West sit in 17th after four games, and a 94th minute winner for Atherton LR in the last league outing meant that West have only amassed four points so far.
Monday's opponents have had an even tougher time following their relegation from the NPL last season. They remain winless in the league and have won just two points courtesy of away draws at Glossop North End and Cheadle Town.
The Purps moved into Burscough's Community Ground this Summer, but have lost their only home league game 6-0 to Atherton LR. They did win their FA Cup extra-preliminary round tie at home to Euxton Villa, but were dumped out of the competition away at Hallam last Sunday following a 3-0 defeat.
Nevertheless, City of Liverpool have had a successful weekend already as they beat Swallownest FC on penalties to progress in the FA Vase after a 1-1 scoreline in 90 minutes.
As stated, this match is being played at Burscough FC. There is a car park on site and the nearest station is Burscough Bridge, which is a 7 minute walk from the ground and trains run direct from Manchester. Opposite the station is a pub called The Bridge which tends to be popular with West fans. There is also a large clubhouse in the ground.

Previous Meetings
West have played the Purps four times and have won just once, with the Liverpudlians claiming maximum points on the other three occasions.
That single West win came in March 2018 in a match that finished 4-3 at Brookburn Road despite the visitors taking an early two-goal lead. West's goals that night came from Matthew Eckersley, Joseph Shaw, Thomas Bailey and Matthew Kay.
The other meetings have seen City of Liverpool win 6-1, 4-0 and 1-3.
This match is being played at Burscough FC's Community Ground, where West have a moderately good record. West have travelled to Bobby Langton Way four times in the last three years and have picked up seven points in their meetings with Burscough and Skelmersdale United.
