West turned in a disappointing performance against 23rd-placed Colne, falling to defeat on a chilly afternoon in east Lancashire.
The starting line-up again saw a trio of changes - Jake Kenny, Cameron Darkwah and Billy Matthews came into the team, while Zak Bailey and Lewis Billingsley moved to the bench. Connor Hughes missed out and new signing Daniel Hewitt was on the bench.
It was a difficult game from the off, West never really got to grips with the sloped pitch - kicking uphill or downhill - and were punished in the second half. West came closest to scoring through Cam Darkwah and Billy Matthews, who each had a chaotic effort blocked in front of former West keeper Harry Turner's goal.
The key moment came just after half-time when Jake Kenny was sent off near the dugouts for a second bookable offence. West battled for 20 minutes but the numerical disadvantage eventually told as Muhammad Ahmed opened the scoring for Colne.
Shakil Ali quickly doubled the lead as West failed to deal with a cross and there was no way back for West, who suffered back to back defeats for the first time under Paul Marshall.
