West got back to winning ways with an important victory at Squires Gate.
Paul Marshall made three changes from the defeat at home to AFC Liverpool - Zak Bailey and Jack Banister start after coming off the bench on Saturday, and Tom Murray returns after suspension. Billy Matthews and Lee Grimshaw move to the bench while Jimmy Moore serves a one-match ban.
James Boyd gave the hosts the lead from the penalty spot after 12 minutes. West didn't have to wait long for an equaliser when, only two minutes later, Cameron Darkwah cleverly controlled and found space behind the Gate backline and crossed for Jordan Lazenbury to tap in.
West took control of the game shortly after half-time when Lazenbury’s pressure on the Gate defence led to a one-on-one chance with Ramadhan in goal. West's number ten calmly dribbled the ball round the keeper to put West in front. The game was put beyond doubt on 77 minutes when substitute Lee Grimshaw broke through and superbly held off the attentions of the last defender to finish well under pressure.
Thank you to all of the West supporters who made the long midweek journey and thank you to Squires Gate for your hospitality.
We’re back on the road on Saturday and it’s a big one as we travel to Ryton & Crawcrook Albion in the FA Vase.
