Wilmslow Town U9 Jaguars v WD&C U9 Pandas
As befitting the conditions, the Pandas were caught cold for the opener as the Jaguars were quickly into stride. Undeterred, WD&C struck back with a penalty awarded soon after as the ball struck an arm in the box. James lashed home, giving the keeper no chance.
Despite drawing level, this was just a temporary reprieve as the two tricky wingers for Wilmslow combined for the next two goals, opening up what looked like an insurmountable lead. Once again, the Pandas roared back as a cross by Clement was swept home on the volley by the newly introduced Henry (P). However the joy would be short-lived as Wilmslow restored their two goal lead as the second half got under way.
If anyone suspected that this would be the cue for the Pandas to meekly accept their fate, they were quickly forced to reassess as a quick fire double from the other Henry saw WD&C right back in the game. The Pandas had the momentum and surely there could only be one winner now? Unfortunately it was not to be as the Jaguars refused to conform to the script and forced in a scrappy winner to settle the game.
WD&C U11 Harriers vs North Trafford Tigers
The Tigers were an unknown quantity but the Harriers soon subdued them with a solid first half performance in which we kept our nose in front with a hat-trick from Ollie to leave us 3-2 going into the break. Luke was back nicking the ball in mid-field after his lay off. Max P, in goal in the first half, looked assured on the long shots and made all the right decisions with his distribution. But it was in the second half where the team started really purring – short pass interplay from the midfield leading to the incisive killer pass up to Jacob and Tyler who were both able to dispatch two past the unfortunate Trafford keeper. Player of the match was a difficult one as it was such a good team performance but in the end it was a battle between Jack as the immovable force in defence against Jacob as the unstoppable object in attack. Jacob’s claim to the award came from a bicycle kick finish but in the end Jack’s immovable force won out as in the second half, aided by Digby in net, he was able to erect a brick wall in front of the Harriers’ net.

Timperley Villa U11 Giants v WD&C Hawks
Hawks cut the Giants down to size in a one-sided affair.
Mars Bar Player of the Match Sam put Hawks ahead early on and it was one way traffic from there on. There was some superb passing, especially down the right flank involving Sam, Joe and Ben.
The keepers literally didn’t have a shot to save and Hawks could afford to miss two penalties. No bee stings during the after-match discussion and the day was rounded off with a visit to the Frank Sidebottom statue and some excellent cannelloni in Cafe Di Martino.

WD&C U14 v Timperley Borussia 5-1
U14’s made it 4 wins from 4 games and sit top of our league.
It could and should have been a more comfortable score line as we missed chance after chance in the first half, only going in 1-0 up at the break.
We didn’t really secure the points until mid way through the second half when we finally found our shooting boots.

U16 St John’s v WD&C Magpies 4-5
In our first fixture on grass v St John’s at U8, we were lampooned 20-0. Last season we lost 3-1 in a friendly 7 years later. On a blustery, squally Autumnal morning on Turn Moss the 2 teams were at last evenly matched. Much like the differing styles of Liverpool and City taking place later that day, the contrasting philosophies would have those gathered and cowering from the weather looking forward to a top notch clash. Who would win the non existent Chorlton Challenge Trophy??
A wind assisted, speculative free kick from Charlie caught the keeper out for the opener on 10 mins, which was soon cancelled out by a smartly headed cross. 1-1.
A good spot and through ball from Tyler found Zeno for a tidy 1st time finish for 1-2. Proof that despite their later Batty/Le Saux bust up, they can still play together!
The Magpies stuck with their slick pass and move style but struggled with their final option to carve out the crucial opening. 20 mins of cagey stalemate was broken by St John’s who capitalised on some overplaying within our own box to punish us with another leveller. 2-2 @ HT. As you were.
A game with more see-saws than a canine agility course, saw Saints go ahead for the first time in the game with a low shot from the edge of the box into the bottom corner.
The Magpies kept their cool and continued to pass it under the breeze. Ioanniesta showed us his development through finishing school with with a low drive of his own to level up at 3-3. Helter-skelter footy.
We lost our shape from a defensive throw and coughed a soft and painful 4th.
The pack was shuffled again for the final 15 or so as nerves and shin pads were tested to the limit.
Ioanniesta again seized on a loose ball near the edge of the box to rifle home what looked like a deserved equaliser only for the returning Tyler to wrap his neck around a gentle cross and somehow steer it into the corner and signal some wild celebrations.
The Magpies saw out the last minute to serve a very cold dish of revenge that most kids have probably forgotten.
We sit at the top of the table for now with 5 wins from 5, and claim local bragging rights for King of The Bee Gees.

PoM: Josh- Slid, pressed, linked and bossed the midfield like a pro in a tough encounter.
WD&C U18 v Unicorn Athletic Youth Phantoms 6-2
West under 18s were playing their final division setting game and having won the last 2 the management team warned the players not to try too hard. Sadly the lads failed to respond to our tactical insights and dominated the first half. It was only some wayward finishing and inspired goalkeeping they meant it was only 2-0 at half time. Just before half time a nasty accidental clash meant a player from each team headed off to A&E but thankfully no broken bones resulted although both will miss several weeks. The half time team talk instruction to take it easy did the trick as we conceded 2 quick goals to make it 2-2 but sadly the lads were not prepared to lie down and scored 4 more without reply (and without some dodgy offside decisions could have got 10). Final score 6-2 and now we await the announcement of which division we will play out our final season.
