Match Report | Tranmere Rovers Ladies 4-1 West Women

A hugely uncharacteristic West performance meant the game was all but over as a contest by half-time.

Right from the off West struggled to find any kind of passing rhythm, giving Tranmere the encouragement to push on, especially with their 2 and 6 down West’s left.

West conceded the first goal on 21 minutes, an Own Goal under relatively little pressure. Tranmere doubled their lead on 27 minutes. The most uncharacteristic thing about this performance were mistakes at the back, missed high balls and through balls. Tranmere again capitalised on 30 minutes to make it 3-0.

The best thing about the first half happened on 39 minutes. It stopped raining.

Tranmere had a glorious chance to make it 4 on 42 minutes with the shot fired wide when one on one with Claire in the West goal. No mistake on 45 minutes when another simple ball was inexplicably missed by the West defence. 4-0 and barring a miracle the game was up by half-time.

H-T – Tranmere 4-0 West

A frank management talk and 3 changes at half-time did prompt something of an improvement from West. They eventually found a way through, albeit thanks to a goalkeeping error. Biff’s shot from the edge of the area bounced in front of the keeper and slipped through her hands when it looked like she had it covered.

There was certainly an increased urgency from West but Tranmere managed the game well and comfortably saw things out.
