After back-to-back wins at Brookburn Road, West will aim for success on the road for the first time this season as they make the short trip to Wythenshawe Amateurs.
The feel-good factor is back in M21 after six points against Alsager Town and Abbey Hulton United, but this visit to Hollyhedge Park promises to be a true test of West’s promotion credentials. As well as targeting three valuable points, Chris Rowley will look to correct West’s less than stellar record in the Garden City – this season’s 5-1 defeat at Wythenshawe Town is still fresh in the memory, and West were edged out by Ammies in the final away game of 2019/20.
The Ammies are winless in the league this season and currently languish in 17th, but this is hardly their own making – coronavirus complications meant they were unable to play for two weeks earlier this month, and only Isle of Man have played fewer games so far this term. They were one of the lucky First Division South sides to qualify for this season’s FA Cup, but after dispatching Shelley on penalties they saw their dream comprehensively snuffed out by Trafford.
Tom Horner made 15 appearances for West, scoring one goal, before moving to Burscough – three months later he returned to Manchester, signing on at Hollyhedge Park.
