Oswestry Town 2 (Bright 39, Evans 90+1)
West 1 (C. Jones 87)
West slipped to a stoppage-time defeat against Oswestry Town at Park Hall.
The table-topping home side held the lead at the interval through Scott Bright, but West looked to have claimed a point when Callum Jones equalised in the 87th minute. However, Steve Evans headed in a corner to ensure Oswestry took all three points.
The home side dominated a first period though chances were at a premium – Matt Cook being in the right place at the right time to clear up after a forward rounded Andrew Jones. But Bright broke the offside trap after 39 minutes and, after beating Jones, finished from a tight angle.
A West side that had been toothless before the interval improved after the restart, with Callum Jones and Chris Middleton bringing regulation saves from home keeper Mason Springthorpe. The introduction of Ash Woods gave the visitors an added impetus and with three minutes of normal time remaining, Callum Jones connected perfectly with a loose ball on the edge of the box and buried his shot into the bottom corner.
But West contrived to throw away the point they had eked out in stoppage time – a soft corner was given away and Evans was allowed to direct his header past Jones and into the net.
