Club Statement | Charnock Richard moved to Saturday 12 May, and news on forthcoming midweek fixtures

The club wishes to announce that Tuesdays match against Charnock Richard has had to be postponed and moved to Saturday 12th May due to an issue with the permissions we have for use of the floodlights and the threat of a sit down protest at the club by a group of anonymous people, designed to get the match abandoned. This change has been ratified by both our opponents and the League, both of whom we would like to thank for their response at such short notice.

The club wishes to apologise for the inconvenience caused to our spectators at such short notice. We would also like to reassure fans that work is underway to ensure we are not placed in this position again.

The club would also like to put on record, that it prides itself on having an open door policy and is committed to working with the Chorlton Community to develop a true Community club. We are proud of the progress we have made over the last three years and the fact that we now have 400 people regularly enjoying watching our first team and over 100 children playing football for our Junior teams.

The club is therefore disappointed that we were threatened with this action anonymously, which has resulted in us having to move this match at such short notice. We would, therefore, urge anyone who is concerned about any aspect of the clubs running to get in touch with us, as we are always willing to listen and discuss.

A further statement on next Tuesday’s (1st May) game against City of Liverpool will be made in due course while the club looks to arrange a solution that satisfies requirements for our permissions, the league, and our opponents. Forthcoming midweek fixtures for West Didsbury & Chorlton Women will kick off at the earlier time of 6:45pm, and therefore are unaffected as they will not require floodlights to complete the game.
