West management, players and supporters will no doubt still be reeling off the high of another historic FA Vase victory over the weekend, but Chris Rowley will ensure that his players are just as up for this one, as we look to extend our recent spell of good form. West have been extremely impressive in their last two league fixtures, winning both whilst scoring six goals in the process. We currently sit in 9th place in the table but we do have games in hand on the teams immediately above, and we all know that this squad will be desperate to climb the table and achieve the best finish possible to this NWCFL campaign.
Saturday’s Vase victory saw Ben Elliott make his first start following his injury setback and it is expected that he will be involved again for this one. New signing Kiel O’Brien was unfortunately ruled out on the weekend but it is possible that he may have some involvement this week. In addition, Rhain Davis missed out on the weekend through suspension but it is expected that he will return to the squad, as he looks to continue his recent positive form. The whole squad has contributed enormously in recent games so the management team face the positive dilemma of picking a first eleven out of a squad of in-form players.
Our visitors Northwich Victoria come into this match riding the wave of very positive form, they have won their last six league games and they have scored an abundance of goals whilst winning them. It is clear that the West defence will most definitely have to work hard for a clean sheet in this one. Northwich currently sit in 3rd place in the league whilst also having a game in hand on 2nd, so they will be all the more motivated to take the points back home with them and continue their push for promotion.
This season’s reverse fixture came back in September, as West suffered their second league defeat of the season, slipping to a 2-1 defeat on the road. Let’s hope for a change of fortunes this time out as we have the Brookburn Road faithful behind us, and the momentum of a historic season so far on our side.
We can’t wait to see you all back at Brookburn bringing the noise as you always do, come on West!
