Match Report | Fylde Women 4-0 West Women

A tough afternoon for West against higher league opposition, with 2 goals in each half taking Fylde through to the Lancashire FA cup final.

Fylde took the lead on 6 minutes and whilst West had a decent chance on 10 minutes, Biff’s shot was comfortable for the Fylde keeper and we struggled to test her again. The first half was especially notable for Bianca’s performance in the West defence, including a goal line clearance in the 23rd minute. Fylde eventually added a second goal on 41 minutes.

HT – 2-0

West made a change at the break and went on to have a decent spell for the next 10 minutes or so, winning a couple of corners in the process, but still unable to test the Fylde keeper.

On 68 minutes Fylde added a third. West continued to plug away but so too did Fylde and they won a penalty on 88 minutes which they actually missed. The fourth goal did come though as we entered the first minute of added time.

West had the last chance of the game, with Sophie Bracegirdle hitting the bar but Leah Bowett-Robinson was unable to dig out a shot from the rebound.

We are now back to league action for the next couple of weeks, with our next semi-final taking place away to Cheadle on the 20/3.
