MANAGER’S NOTES | vs Litherland REMYCA, Saturday 17 November

Taken from the match programme for the visit of Litherland Remyca. Available on the gate for £2

Good afternoon all and welcome to this afternoons league fixture against today’s visitors Litherland REMYCA.

We hope everyone connected to our friends from Liverpool enjoy our hospitality and following today’s game we wish them well for the rest of the season.

After getting promoted last season our guests have made a solid start to the season. Teams from Liverpool always work extremely hard and we will have to be at our best to pick up the 3 points that we desperately want!

Of course we come into today’s game on the back of a much needed win last weekend away in the Macron Cup at Eccleshall. In truth the 2-1 scoreline did not represent our dominance having 2 goals ruled out by very narrow offside decisions and hitting the woodwork 3 times.

We had to make some changes on the morning of the game due to late unavailability which forced us to utilise   Ben Woods as a central striker. I’ve been delighted with Ben’s performances since he returned to the club and his pace and movement was a constant threat to Eccleshall all game. He got just rewards for his efforts with a well taken goal and it ensures that we have more attacking options as move into the next 5 games!

We have enquired about a number of players since losing Saul and I am hopeful of bringing in at least 1 striker before today’s game however as a write these notes we are not able to confirm that just yet!!

Today’s game marks the first of 5 for us that have become extremely important. If we are able to pick up 10 points from the run we have against teams round about us we should be able to start looking up the table with a little more optimism. If we don’t meet this target we will have to start to look at the season with very different objectives.

On the injury front it was great to get Zac Cooper back on the pitch at Eccleshall. Zac has worked extremely hard in his recovery and we are delighted to get him back in the squad after an exciting preseason.

The support of the team has continued to be fantastic throughout the difficult spell and all of the players are grateful for it!

As always, thanks for the continued support and enjoy the game!!
