West re-sign Ash Woods from Trafford
Ahead of the club’s game against Lower Breck this Saturday, West are pleased to announce the signing of fan favourite Ashley Woods from Trafford. With last season’s top scorer Tom Bailey having picked up an injury that could keep him out for around 6 weeks during our win against Whitchurch Alport, the management team moved quickly to maintain strength across the strikeforce.
Having won the hearts of the Brookburn Road faithful over a number of spells with the club – most notably during 2016, in which he was a integral part of a record-scoring forward line alongside Nic Evangelinos, Ben Steer, and Matty Kay amongst others – Woods most recently turned out for West towards the end of last season, during which he was dual registered with Trafford and proved vital in steadying results after a difficult winter.
Manager Steve Settle said, “In light of Toms injury it was crucial to move quickly, Ash is familiar to our club, we are delighted to bring him back to the club and we look forward to him adding to his goal tally this season”
Having previously led the line for the club with such distinction, the addition of Ash is sure to both firepower and a relentless work ethic to the club’s attack. Ash will be available for selection for the weekend’s FA Vase game, and should play a crucial role for Steve Settle’s side over the course of what is sure to be a testing campaign.
