Yearbook launch party announcements: DJs, away kit launch, Ellie Caddick photography & more
With our special launch event for Lew Currie’s 2016/17 yearbook only a few days away, we’re pleased to reveal the finalised details of the evening. As previously announced, we will be opening the clubhouse from 7pm, at which point copies of the Yearbook will be available for purchase (or, for those who have pre-ordered, for pick-up) behind the bar, priced at £5 with all funds going to the West Supporters’ Club (http://wdcfcfan.club). The bar will be open, selling alcoholic refreshments and soft drinks at normal West prices, while the best beer garden in M21 – the seating in front of the clubhouse – will be open to all. In addition, we’re happy to announce the following will be happening throughout the evening, with both the home and away dressing rooms open to supporters throughout the night:
From 7pm, Friday 11 August at Brookburn Road
Men’s away kit launch
While the Women’s team kits have been a huge hit, on the eve of our season opener against Widnes we’ll be revealing what the men’s side will be wearing away from home this season. A change from previous seasons, fan favourite Anthony Potts will be modelling the kit and spending time chatting to fans on his thoughts for the new season.
Fake Indie Night DJ set in the bar, 8pm til close
Providing the vibes on the evening will be Jamie Gibson of Fake Indie Night. Having soundtracked several impromptu fan club meet-ups in Chorlton bar The Beagle, it was only natural that Jamie brought his particular brand of DJing down to Brookburn Road for the evening. Expect indie, alternative, pop-punk, and more – you can get a taste for what you’ll be listening to by tuning in to the Spotify playlist from their last set below:
Penfold Pincher print exhibition in the away dressing room
While Penny himself may be taking a little bit of a break after his escapades last season, he’s back for one night in for an exhibition of the strips that made him such a fan favourite during the 2016/17 campaign. Famed for trying to get into West games without paying for it, Pincher’s plots included trying to pass as a dog, dressing up as Monica, and even buying one of the houses overlooking Brookburn Road. The prints will be available to purchase on the night – these will be sold first come, first served. You can see the whole of Penfold’s archive here: http://wdcfc.co.uk/penfold-pincher-series-1/
Ellie Caddick photography in the home dressing room
Already impressing on the pitch with her commanding midfield performances in the opening West Didsbury & Chorlton Women fixtures, Ellie Caddick will be exhibiting her photography in the home dressing room. Focusing on landscapes, Ellie’s work captures the wilder parts of Chorlton and surrounding areas with a unique flair for the dramatic and atmospheric. You can see a sample of her work taken from her Instagram feed below – prints will be available for purchase on the evening.
Further details – including information on tote bags which will be available on the evening – will be confirmed on social media on the day.
