West Confirm Double Swoop

West Didsbury & Chorlton are delighted to confirm that former player of the year Matt Eckersley, 29, has returned to the club following a spell in the Welsh Premier League. The transfer was originally announced in an interview by Manager Steve Settle last weekend.

‘Ecky’ had two previous spells at West, first in the Manchester League, with his most recent spell during Steve Settle’s first season in 2015/16 as he helped guide West to their best-ever finish before collecting the players player of the year award.

Eckerlsey made 42 appearances in his 18 months at Cefn scoring once before his return to Brookburn Road.

In addition, Manager Steve Settle has confirmed the capture of Defender Lanre Olapade on dual registration from Evo-Stik Premier Division side Ashton United. Olapade, 21, is a central defender who’d previously spent time at amongst Manchester City’s junior ranks before spells at Cowlyn Bay, Ramsbottom United and Mossley.

 

Both players will go into Settle’s thinking ahead of tomorrow night’s match at home to City of Liverpool.
