West better Congleton Town to win 3-0 away from home – West Didsbury & Chorlton AFC

West better Congleton Town to win 3-0 away from home

Starting the Bank Holiday Weekend with a bang, West ran out 3-0 winners in Congleton, bettering a very good side in the process.

Two first half goals from Tom Bailey – who, on another day, could’ve had 4 to his name having failed to convert two more one on ones – and a third from sub Carlos Mendes Gomes were enough to win the points for West, who can also thank Aaron Ashley for a number of good saves to keep Congleton Town out of the game. Those names aside, there were good performances all over the park, with Saul Henderson hitting the bar, Matty Kay being unlucky not to add to his tally, and Josh Tinker winning supporters’ player of the match – while support and defence play was also outstanding at times.

Congleton will feel hard done by to have been kept to nil, having had good pressure for large swathes of the game. However, Settle’s boys return to Chorlton with 3 points ahead of Bank Holiday Monday’s home game against Runcorn Linnets.
