RECREATION GROUND | BROOKBURN ROAD | CHORLTON | M21 8FE
by Matthew Durrant · 30/08/2017
Following a mixed pre-season, West have begun the 2017/18 campaign with a series of strong performances across the park. It was a difficult job, but we’ve managed to whittle it down to a few names, each of whom would be deserving winners of the Player of the Month award.
Aaron Ashley
Vital stops in each of our opening games meant West are still unbeaten in the league, culminating in clean sheets against Congleton Town and Runcorn Linnets
Anthony Potts
A stalwart at the back, Pottsy made his 200th West appearance this month – and marked that milestone with his usual commanding presence at the heart of defence.
Gary Lilley
Having missed out much of last season with injury, fan favourite Lilley has returned with the kind of all-action performances that made him so popular on the terraces to begin with.
Joshua Tinker
Always strong at full back, Tinker’s stand-out performance of the month was when he was asked to step into defence midfield against Congleton Town – and he put on a masterclass in breaking up play, keeping it simple and playing out from the back.
Nic Evangelinos
One of the club’s most consistent performers, Evangelinos has stepped up his game yet again at the start of this campaign – with 4 goals to his name already.
Saul Henderson
Struggled for game time at the start of the month, but a good showing at Congleton gave cause for optimism, culminating in a wonderful hat-trick at home to Runcorn Linnets
Tom Bailey
7 goals already this season, and that isn’t even the half of it; Bailey’s all-round play has shown why he is rated as one of the best strikers in the league. Dropping deep when needed and holding up play – while having a burst of pace and clinical edge when required, West’s good start to the season has been in no small part to Tom’s contributions.
Vote below now- polling closes this Saturday (September 2nd), midday.
