RECREATION GROUND | BROOKBURN ROAD | CHORLTON | M21 8FE
by Matthew Durrant · 26/07/2017
With pre-season fast approaching, preparations for the return of competitive football to M21 are continuing apace. While we face our final friendly opposition this evening in a visit to Cheadle Town, we are now able to announce an additional fixture this Saturday (29th July) – as two West XIs face off against each other at Brookburn Road.
As a thank you from the management and committee to the fans for your excellent support last season, and in anticipation of similar enthusiasm over the coming months, Steve Settle will be pitting two West teams against one another. With our squad showing strength in depth, this will act as a perfect way for team members to seal their place in the first eleven in advance of next Saturday’s (5th August) trip to Athersley Recreation in the FA Cup.
The game will kick off at 2pm, and will be free entry to all. This will then be followed (weather permitting) by a barbecue at 5.30pm for players, staff & supporters to discuss the forthcoming season – as well as any other, non-footballing matters. Fans are encouraged to bring anything they would like to be cooked upon the grill – although the club will also be providing food on the day.
Before the game, we are also asking for any supporters with some spare time to help with cleaning up the ground. This will mainly involve cutting back overgrown weeds, and sorting out the car parking areas in the ground. This will start at 10am – and anyone with any gardening tools (especially cordless/petrol trimmers) are also encouraged to bring equipment down. Refreshments will be provided by the club – we couldn’t do this without you.
