Runcorn march on as West fall 2-4. – West Didsbury & Chorlton AFC

Runcorn march on as West fall 2-4.

West were taught a lesson in counter attacking football and game management as Runcorn Town came to Brookburn Road and left with three points.

Runcorn scored midway through the first half through some lovely interplay, leaving Ashley stranded for Town to stroke home.

West equalised through a deflected Evangelinos header, giving hope to the home support.

On the stroke of half time, Cairns a long ball saw Cairns through – and he slotted home to make it 1-2 at the break.

In the second half, Town started stronger, and scored early on to make it 3-1, before West drew one back through a lovely Joe Shaw striker from the edge pf the area (assist from Mendes Gomes).

From there, Runcorn Town showed a masterclass in game management, making sure of their victory through smart play and winding down the clock whenever the opportunity presented.

Runcorn added a 4th, putting the game beyond much doubt. West pressed for the final 20 without threatening much – leaving the home support further frustrated by the away team’s tactics.

Runcorn have now won 8 in a row. West will be looking to turn things around in Barnton, this coming Wednesday.
